Today Admob closed my publisher account after couple of years

by nolovelust 6. April 2011 13:06

Another update on 01/08/2011: Well, Admob closed my account again! I wont bother to get it back anymore. They had droppedmy fill rate to 5% anyway. They can take and do something with their network!

Update 07/04/2011 22:55 GMT: after admob's down time my account was enabled again. why? did they restore from old backup? did they re-enabled my account?

I have been publishing ads from Admob for few years now.

Although performance is not good as last year, when it comes to generating income, it still is the best mobile ad networks out there.

Not so best on other aspects of a healthy business relationship! Today they have closed my publisher account. When I try to login I get below message

“Your account has been disabled for invalid activity or repeated policy violations. Some examples include recurring manual clicks or impressions, violation of our content policies which can be found here, robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as pay-to-click, pay-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software.”

There is no other explanation, contact or email from Admob regarding the reason. I don’t know what wasn’t right with my site that caused my account to be closed.

As I’ve said I’ve been with them long time and as a sane person I would never jeopardise income coming from Admob with fake clicks. The only thing I think of is possible some adult content on my site. My site is community site and it is almost impossible to moderate content fast enough. I’ve to rely on automated check and reports from other users.

This shows how valuable we publishers are to Admob and Google. They just dismiss you even though you have been loyal to them long time.

I felt sad, I shouldn’t. This is business and putting all of your eggs in one basket makes you vulnerable!

Take my advice and never ever rely on one company! One day they might stab you at the back!

Update: It seems there was a disable accounts campaign by Google Admob . Since I have published this post I've started to get  visitors from google with searches like

"Your account has been disabled for invalid activity or repeated policy violation"

"admob account disabled"

Also got linked from a Chineese forum at http://www.cocoachina.com/bbs/read.php?tid-53303.html

Are you one of the victims? Were your earnings high?

We are one of the victims as well. However, I believe we were the ones most damaged. We have over 9 apps with AdMob, which generate over 8 Million monthly impressions per month. We use these impressions to launch mobile marketing campaigns for reputable brands, actually --very-- reputable brands. Additionally, we paid AdMob over $3,000 to purchase ads on their network as well (not just our apps). What's funny is that we disabled cpc ads (we don't generate any revenue from AdMob, we sell the space our selves).

Yesterday, our account was disabled with no notice whatsoever. We lost the $3,000 we paid to AdMob, we lost our 9 Million monthly impressions, and we our campaigns have all been stopped, our end clients are extremely angry and starting to sue us.

This is by far the worst unprofessional act I have experienced in the media industry.

I wrote a short post about it:
A step by step guide on how to get screwed by AdMob

ADMOB IS A STRAIGHT UP SCAM! If they were really concerned about fraud they would only credit 1 click per guid/ip in a 24 hour period. Instead they simply STEAL from hard working publishers because they can and don't give a shit.

I went to log into my AdMob account today to find the exact same message. Its not like I was a high earner on their network but still, its unprofessional and uncalled for. Google/Admob: You suck. You could have at least had the courtesy to send a damn email, even if it was going to be a canned one!

Additionally....WHY DO THEY PROVIDE NO CONTACT INFORMATION?! HOW THE HECK DO WE DISPUTE THIS MADNESS!

I just recieved the same notification when I logged my account today! it's so frustrating where all my traffic are legit and there's no way I have ever did invalid activities. It's such a shame to admob since they were aquired to google. They have been banning publishers with out any valid reasons, or they could have  at least email us about this, and respond to our emails. it sucks I lost about $4000 to them T_T

Same problem here. Disabled 3 days ago, after almost 2 years of working together. Also the appeal link takes to the standard AdSense appeal form, they forgot to create a separate form for AdMob. This is very strange.

I'm looking for other mobile ad networks now, as they are starting to appear slowly. But AdMob was excellent when it worked.

lost $11000 over two months. was banned on Nov 1st, so missed sep and oct payouts...
stooged..
Followed the steps to make an appeal, but the email goes to adsense. They replied saying none of your accounts are banned, what are you talking about? so i explained it but got ignored.
also, sent an email to admob support, no  reply yet.

judging by the time and date of the ban, i assume it's automatic.
it's also written in their help section: "dont worry about anomilies, we will use our discretion to determine wether it's fake or not".

Seems their system and procedures are flawed..

Today Google/Admob disabled my account. I'm really astonished. I additionally participated their ad mediation program to serve ad. And I was using admob for more than 1 year. So it really hearts that suddenly you'll see your account closed :S
